I have been trying to figure out how to remove the bearing retainer on the bottom of my steering shaft. I can't get a puller on it because I would be pulling on the bearing and pushing on the retainer, but I can put the steering nut in a vise and turn it with the steering wheel until the nut pushes against what is left of the bearing. However, it seem to only go so far and lock up, I am afraid I might damage the nut, or splines if I put too much torque on it. There is no lip on the retainer to get vise grips on it either. Any Ideas? http://www.tractorshed.com/cgi-bin/gallery/pieces_pic.cgi?pic=http;//www.tractorshed.com/gallery/pieces/v2866.jpg&firstrec=1&lastrec=15&Parameter=&mo de=All&what=pieces Tha is a link to the photo gallery on YTMag and has a picture of the parts. |
