(this is also posted at the hpoca forum) A family member ran the 1655 out of fuel. Filling the tank and trying to start it did not work. What's the procedure to get it going again? Thanks in advance. Rob |

Read the Operator's Manual. You must purge both the low and high sides of the pump. |

You need to get all of the air out of the fuel system, and cranking the starter alone won't do it. Follow the fuel line from the tank to the filters. There will be a bleeder screw on the filter base somewhere. This depends on which filters you have. Open the bleeder screws until air-free fuel comes out. Then bleed out the injection pump. The manual is the best way to figure out how to do this, as it has pictures so you get the right screw. But once the air is out of the injection pump, loosen all of the fittings where the injector lines connect to the injectors. It doesn't take much of a turn to have them loose enough, but be sure to use two wrenches to keep from twisting the line that goes into the injector. Once the lines are loose, crank the engine over until fuel is squirting out of all lines. Then stop and re-tighten the fittings, and you tractor should fire right up. |
