i have the chance to buy an oliver 60t baler that has been setting for about 10 years, inside, and seems to turn good and has all it's parts. i was reading some other posts on this and never really found out if this is a good baler or one to let go and look for something else. they are asking 400.00 for this baler and i need something. i am use to the john deere balers but never had any major troubles with them so just wondered all your takes on the older olivers. i did notice in a post about making knotter adjustments that someone said their dad would walk along side and make adjustments, just wondered if he did that for entire feilds, which would tell me to stay away from this thing, or if that was just to get it going and did that have to be done every year. thanks Cody |

I was the one that said dad walked along side the baler to adjust it. It wasn't that it wasn't working, dad was just one of those guys that liked to fine tune everything to it's optimal performance. Our 720 never missed a knot while he was around. I have never re-adjusted it in the nearly 10 years since he passed away, baling 1000+ bales a year with it. It only misses about 3 or four knots a year now. Not too bad in my book. From what I see used balers selling for, $400 isn't a bad deal compared to the other makes. But I haven't used a 60, so I can't say for sure on the ins and outs of that model.
