I have an oliver 1850 that the hydraulics continue to overheat when plowing. they also run hotter at all times compared to my 1750. the fluid gets so hot it boils out of the fill tube. I have changed the complete top housing(hydraulic unit and pump) and the power steering unit to a 1655 unit in an atempt to solve this problem but still no success. does anyone out there have any sugestions or have heard of this problem. |

Do you have acess to a couple of pressure gauges and a flow meter?. You are going to ruin the pump in a short period of time.! |

You're going to need a copy of the service manual. It covers this in some detail. Some things to look for that aren't so obvious are a kink in a cooler line, cooler clogged inside, cooler covered in oil/coolant outside which then attracts dust and prevents heat transfer, cooler fins bent over, dirty sceeen in front of radiator, wrong hydraulic fluid, water in fluid from condensation or external leak, wrong fluid level, clogged filter, etc. |

Does the oil cooler in front of the radiator get hot too? If not, the oil is not circulating through it, and would not be able to cool off. Is it only when plowing, or anytime you use the tractor? Is there free play (can you lift the three point arms by hand) when the three point is in the full raised position? When you say top housing, do you mean the whole three point lift and hydraulic assembly, or just the cover under the operators seat?
