i need to replace my temperture sending unit, but i don't need a rad flush. does anybody know off hand what the thread size of the unit is so i can go buy one without taking mine with me. just want to pick up a sending unit from the automotive store is all.

Unless they actually list one for that application using one with the same thread size may not do you any good as the gauge and the sender unit need to match far as the resistance values. Simply put the wrong sender may cause it to read hotter or cooler than it actually is.

i was told that any would work, but i guess your right. it would be just as easy to get one proper from the ag-stores....never tried to see if they carry them, but i'll soon find out.thanks

If you have a manual sometimes they will give the range of resistance values for the sender. Some of the listngs at the autovalue store we use does list some of the specs on some senders.

not in my owners manual no. perhaps in the shop manual that gives more numbers detail, but i don't recall an automotive store up this way having such lists of specs. got to make a few phone calls, im now curious.

I think the one I seen them in was from four seasons, which is mostly AC stuff. However I know one of their other parts book had a listing for on/off settings for temp sensors used for cooling fans and Idiot lights, and also the resistance values on senders for gauges. Go ahead and check with your local AGCO dealer and see what price is. My guess is it will be either ridicously cheap or ridicously expensive.
