Does anyone know the value of an Oliver 3242, 2 Bottom, 16" Plow? The plow appears to be in good shape. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Randall

I am 99% sure that the plows I bought back in the mid 90's were 3242's. I paid $100 for them. I sold them for $300 about 2 years ago because a couple of guys told me that "$100 a bottom" was a fair price. Because - mine were 3 bottom. I bought it with the 3 rd. bottom off and never used it because even using it as a two bottom was quite a load for my Super-55.

I did manage to get the third bottom on it before I sold it. One of my prouder agricultural accomplishments !

I have been anxioulsy waiting 2 days to see what some of the more experienced guys tell you so I can see what kind of deal I got (or gave).

I think the value is going to depend on a location and the law of supply and demand. Also is this to be used or just be used as plow days. Around here 2 and 3 bottom units no matter what brand are collector items. Mounted always were scare. 4 bottom semimounted plows are mostly cut up for scrap. I have a friend who purchased a 3 bottom Ford for show purposes only. I will ask what he paid.

Thanks for the info. I am not a plow expert and had to dig around a little bit to find the info on the plow. It still has the model# and Serial# tag on the plow. Most of the paint is gone but the plow tips (not sure of proper term)appear to be in good condition. I thought that people who collect and refurbish Oliver equipment would be interested in this plow as a collectors item but I may be mistaken. I live in eastern Tennessee and have not checked prices in this area. I am interested in selling the plow but would like fair market value. I can take a picture of the plow and send it via email to anyone interested. I am not sure of the difference between mounted and semi-mounted plows.
Again, thanks for your responses and anymore info would be appreciated.

Around here, southern michigan, 100 per bottom is the going rate for plows. I paid $250 for a nice Ford 2-16 plow with all the extras last year, and I feel it was a fair price. Small plows are sought after by collectors and hobby farmers now.

Yep, location makes a big difference. I had to drive 14 hours to pick up an Oliver two bottom. I can't remember for sure, but I think I paid more than $100 a bottom. It is the only Oliver two bottom I had seen for sale in 5 years, so I grabbed it. Olivers are not common here in British Columbia, oh by the way I found it in Edmonton, Alberta and acutally talked the wife into going on the trip to pick it up : )
