I have an oliver 60t baler with a couple troubles. one, i have a broken needle. two, the plunger is stuck. does anyone know where i can get a needle, and how to i get the plunger unstuck. i have loosened the four rail adjusting bolts and have taken the arm loose from the gear box and soaked the plunger in solvent, it's just flat stuck...any help would be great.

Those plungers can get stuck pretty bad. You may want to consider getting another 60T and using your old one for parts. A parts machine is going to be your best bet for the needle.

Probably not the answer you wanted to hear, but you can find working 60Ts for a couple hundred bucks, so it's not worth much effort to fix a stuck one, unless it has a sentimental value.

Hope this helps

i finally got the plunger unstuck. took alot of oil and solvent, but found that the rails were tight with sand and dirt. i paid 100.00 for this one, and thats really the only thing wrong, other then needing some belts and a needle. do you know if the needle's were specific to oliver or not? i know some knotters will interchange from brand to brand.

needles were specific to oliver. some cockshutt brands were compatible too, but they are really oliver. the knotter is a deering knotter and you can find them in alot of balers. new holland balers were good for knotter parts, they have the deering knotters too. maybe if you have the complete broken needle, perhaps you can get it repaired. however, if you trip over another oliver baler someones trying to get rid of, grab it. oliver balers, are a good choice baler!
