We went to the tractor show at the Gilmore Car Museum in Richland MI yesterday, and saw this:  It was an Oliver Superior grain drill that had some modifications done to it. It is now driven by the hydrostats from a zero-turn lawn mower, with all of the center part pivoting on the axles. Here is a view from the front:  Just so everybody can see it in action, I made this video clip. It's not the highest resolution, but good enough to see how it works. Chris, thanks for sharing that brilliant piece of technology. Ever see one of those Segway scooters that are suppose to be the answer for people moving in the future? This little item makes that piece of equiptment look like a donkey cart. By the way, are they going into mass production with the grain drill commuter? | ||

Believe it or not, there was a guy using one of those Segway scooters at this very show. He turned a few heads, but not as many as this fine machine. The Oliver "Dream Machine" has much more room, plus a canopy to keep you out of the elements. Unfortunately, just like the Segway, there is much secrecy as to when it will go into production. The gentleman that made it (pictured above) said he saw a similar machine at another show and had to make this one. It took him 3 years before he came across a grain drill with a good set of wheels. It then took 3 months to put it together. This show seems to be a haven for odd homemade vehicles. Below is a David Bradley walk behind unit that the owner put a front wheel on, put a leather horse saddle on, and said yee ha!  There was also self propelled wheel barrows with an operators seat installed, and a articulated Cub Cadet garden tractor. |
