I'm helping my brother restore a 1650 diesel just purchased that has the wiring "botched-up" by previous owner! The wiring schematic in the service manual doesn't show how the starter solenoid is wired. Any help or digital pix e-mailed would be appreciated. Thanks |

I'll take a picture of my 1750 diesel starter. It should be the same. On the large post there should be the large cable from the batteries, a large cable that goes to the pre-heater, and red wire that is about 10 gauge that goes to the key switch. On the small post should be a pink wire that goes through the neutral saftey switch and then to the key. |

Schematic shows a safety switch and you mentioned a safety switch. My 1650 must be missing this, so where does it go and what kind of switch is it. |

The safety switch is under the transmission shift lever. 2 wires come out of the front of the transmission from under the front tranny cover on what would be the right side if your are sitting on the tractor seat. This is a micro switch that stops the current if the transmission is not in neutral. These switches do occasionally go bad, and it seems most people by-pass them rather than replace them. |
