How does the draft control system work? I have a Super 55 that has that option but dont know the benefits or use. If the lever is up, what is happening, iuf the lever is down, what is happening?

Draft control works by sensing the load on the three point hitch and adjusts the height according to it. When the lever is in the draft position, the amount of load or "draft" is sensed by push and pull of the top link of the three point hitch. As a load gets harder to pull, the implement will push against the top link, which changes the position of the internal linkage. When the that happens, the system will raise the three point hitch to compensate, thus reducing the amount of draft load. When the load reduces back to the normal level, the three point will lower back down. Draft control is best used when plowing or something similar. When you get into some tough pulling ground, the draft contol system will lift the plow slightly to get you through the spot instead of letting you overload the tractor.

Position control is for when you want the three point hitch to stay where you put it. When the lever is in position control, the draft control system is by passed. So when you set an implement at a certain height, it will stay there whether or not the load changes. The advantage of using this mode is that when using something like a scraper blade, the blade stays at the height you want. So if you are scraping snow and you get a pile behind you, it isn't going to lift up and start leaving snow behind. It would also be good when using a post hole digger, since you wouldn't want it jumping up and down in response to the load on it.

If your three point hitch implement goes up and down slightly while just hanging in the air in the raised position, chances are there is some kind of internal leak that is allowing oil out of the lift cylinder. The 3 point system will sense if the arms are going down and when they have settled enough, it will send oil into the lift cylinder to lift it back up to where it supposed to be. A small amount of this up and down isn't too much to worry about, but if it is doing it frequently, it would be best to find out where the leak is and get it fixed. The constant cycling will over heat the hydraulic oil.
