The question of why Oliver used the underslung front ends came up on ytd, but no-one seems to know the answer. Can you shed some light on this for us? Thanks.

The main reason was to get a shorter turning radius. I also think that this design is a little more stout than the regular adjustable front axle. They work good on a loader tractor.
Dad never really cared for this axle, and said that Deere already had a similar setup and Oliver felt they needed to keep up with the Joneses.

I think they have less steering effort too, due to their placement, which also makes them more suitable for loader work.
