Rivets on Differential Ring Gear

Chris, I removed one of the rivets on the ring gear. That was a job and a half. I think I have more risk of damaging the gear taking those rivets out than the chance of one coming out. They are well seated. However, it was worth the experience to see how well they were installed.

I'm painting the hardware for the rims so they will ge ready to have tires mounted soon. Thanks for all the help and advice.

If you feel confident with their condition, then it might be best to leave them alone. Hope I didn't cause you too much trouble, just relaying my experience with the rivets.

Oh no, I'm glad you pointed out the possibble problems. The one I took out didn't really look that well seated compared to some of the others and I could turn it. Now I have peace of mind knowing they aren't likely to go anywhere. I'm going to put a 3/8 bolt in place of the rivet I took out and I may peen the bolt to make sure the nut won't come off. I'll bring the school camera home next week and take some pictures for you. Thanks again for all the info.
