I am just finishing the complete restoration of an 1855mfd. I used a 354 perkins w fuel pump from a claas combine with only 200 hours or so (this engine has over 40 psi oil pressure at idle). So I used the frame, bell housing, tin, etc. from an 1850 to get everthing right. It has a new hydraulic pump, new kevlar clutch and pressure plate. Went through the o/u trans put in new seal kit, rear housing and all the clutch packs plus both input and output shafts are excellent. PTO unit and 3 remotes gone through. Radiator recondtioned, for fuel tank: shop resoldered sediment and drain unit. Front drive unit all virgin tight and transfer case checked. Repainting tractor and I will now stop without mentioning all the other details. This tractor is now better then new! I will end up with at least $20g in this tractor. I need it for round bales but I wonder if I should have went for a newer mfd Ford, CIH, etc. |
